Duties and responsibilities:

Ensure full compliance with Part-145, SMS and promote according to group and local requirements & regulations

Compliance

  • Ensure all quality related policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Create Audit plan
  • Ensure completion of the company audit plan, including supplier audits
  • Perform audits and quality spot checks as part of an ongoing audit program
  • Attend and facilitate authority and customer audits in your area
  • Create and monitor mandatory occurrence reports (MOR) and follow up actions
  • Carry out investigations into any quality or customer occurrence
  • Report non-conformities.
  • Assist the production area to define corrective/preventive action in response to audit/investigation findings, follow up and confirm the implementation of the agreed CAPA
  • Promote the highest environmental quality of along with health and safety standards according to given regulations
  • Review the manpower requirements against the work requirements to ensure PART 145 standards are maintained
  • Monitor all contracted maintenance for compliance with contract conditions relevant to airworthiness
  • Monitor local training needs and ensure that staff which is carrying out quality checks is adequately trained.
  • Issue, control and maintain company authorizations and associated records
  • Is empowered /delegated to sign the necessary documents required to apply for SACATS 145.01.11 & CARS 145.01.11 Aircraft Maintenance Licenses for issuing certification authorizations to certifying staff
  • Establish and manage a policy which ensures good communication to all staff on such matters as company policy, health & safety
  • Regularly create quality reports to Accountable Manager
  • Supporting the production of quality reports for the Sabena Executive Board according SA-CATS & CARS 145.02.2

Safety

  • Ensure full compliance with Part-140
  • The identification of latent hazards and carry out risk management analyses of those hazards
  • Definition of the Quality & Safety System and issue of the Integrated Management Manual
  • The investigation, analysis and identification of the root cause of all hazards or the contributing factors of incidents and accidents identified under the SMS to ensure the Company has adequate mitigation in place
  • The maintenance of an electronic safety data system to monitor and analyse trends in hazards, incidents and accidents
  • The maintenance of a continuous monitoring system that evaluates the results of corrective actions with respect to hazards, incident and accidents
  • The monitoring of the concerns of the civil aviation industry in respect of safety and their perceived effect on The Company
  • The coordination of the organization’s aviation safety program and all related safety matters
  • Cooperation with the training section with regard to safety training of Maintenance Staff
  • The supervision of aircraft handling regardless matters related to safety in cooperation with ground support services
  • The investigation of all incidents and accidents involving the organization’s aircraft maintenance, equipment and property, including fire and emergency procedures, not undertaken in accordance with Part 12;
  • The actioning and distribution of accident, incident and other occurrence reports
  • The coordination with security personnel to ensure all aspects of security regarding the organization’s aircraft maintenance
  • The development and maintenance of a mandatory occurrence reporting scheme
  • The establishment of an emergency plan in the event of an accident, which includes The actions to be followed by relevant personnel
  • Conducting meetings with all relevant personnel regarding safety matters
  • Maintenance of safety equipment
  • Safety audits performed by the Quality and Safety Department of The Company
  • Occupational health and safety

Liaise with the other Orizio group Civil Maintenance Safety and Compliance functions in order to strive for harmonization

Technical Competencies and other Requirements:

  • Quality Assurance and SMS Course or equivalent qualification
  • Qualification as Licensed Aircraft Engineer or university degree in aircraft engineering (would be an advantage)
  • Relevant work experience in a PART 145 or equivalent environment along with work experience in quality assurance
  • Knowledge of the PART 145, PART 140, PART 66 and PART M and international aviation regulations and standards
  • Proven experience in event investigation (error and cause analysis), audit techniques and SMS.
  • Analytical
  • Experience in EN9110, ISO 14001 and OHSAS18001 is an advantage
  • Experience implementing and/or managing a SMS
  • Experience and qualifications in aviation accident/incident investigation and human factors

  • Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken
  • Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Excellent service and customer orientation with strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
  • Result oriented, decisiveness and good analytical skills
  • Ability to work in high stress environment
  • Readiness for domestic and abroad duty travel
  • Valid driving license
  • Eligibility to reside and work in South Africa
